Note: A few antivirus programs keep detecting a couple of the included files as viruses. This is false positive. These vendors were informed numerous times and the serious companies such as DrWeb and Kaspersky, update their signatures to remove the false detection within a few hours after being informed. Others, such as McAfee, despite all the efforts and contacts, don’t do anything to update their signatures. For a few unknown ones, which use third party signatures, there is no way to contact them or they simply don’t respond. This program will never knowingly distribute any kind of malware.

  1. Original ISO x86+x86-64

Error! This doesn’t seem to be valid source!
Either or all of \sources/boot.wim, \bootmgr
\boot\, \boot\BCD are missing, or source is not supported.
Retry to select another source or CANCEL to return to the main menu

  2. thanks…very help full software..but wen i tryed to install wndows 7 using with **USB3** port, had some error like a “USB3 does not support” (as i remember).. what is the reason for came this error….??? realy have a no any issues.. this is a good tool…

    • Windows 7 does not support usb3 natively. So either have to embed the needed drivers
, use usb2 port, or play with bios settings to limit to usb2 temporarily.

  3. I have been using this great tool for my multiboot usb for windows.Worked great with any version of windows except windows 10. My win 10 iso is single(home version) 64-bit created w/media creation tool, but it doesn’t work as I have been testing multiple times. I added the iso at last(7/8 and lastly 10).Does it matter for this specific problem?(Error:virtual disk could not be mounted)

    • Most likely you had sources created with the previous versions, which include imdisk bersion incompatible with latest Win10 builds, or you are not using the 1.6 final.
So either use the latest version and start from scratch, formatting the usb disk, or if you already have sources on it, simply replace tge whole /winsetup/imdisk/ folder with the from the latest version and you will be fine.

To clarify newer version of the program will not overwrite existing old version of imdisk on the usb disk, you have to do that manually or start from scratch using latest version.

      • Actually I did try formatting usb from scratch and copying imdisk to WINSETUP folder but same result.Windows 10 trying to load but stays blue screen and ultimately same as couldn’t mount the virtual disk, press ok to reboot. I haven’t tried 32-bit yet,but there is an issue with 64-bit.

        • Are you using 1.6 final? What is the exact windows source, version, build? Is it stock Microsoft image?

          • I am using 1.6 final version.Source file is windows 10 64-bit home created with media creation tool.Amazing thing is the usb works on mac but not on windows pc.I tested on macbook pro and it worked as it supposed to work but the same usb doesn’t work on pc.

            • Most likely USB stick is not seen later in the boot process. I would fiddle with bios settings first, or try another usb port.

              • I tested the WinsetupFromUsb ver 1.6(beta2) and it worked fine. Later I figured out the problem was with the latest version of imdisk used on final version of WinsetupFromUsb.I came to conclusion that the imdisk(latest)is not yet compatible with windows 10.

                • It was the opposite case, and was confirmed in many tests by different users.

Can you please double check that your are not mixing versions?

                  • I use the tool many times a day. I know exactyly what I am doing. You can check yourself if it works with new or the old version of imdisk.Nevertheless,I found the solution and works great for me.Many thanks for the small useful tool.Hope you will add more features in the future.

  4. thank I have been using this great tool for my multiboot usb for windows.Worked great with any version of windows except windows 10. My win 10 iso is single(home version) 64-bit created w/media creation tool, but it doesn’t work as I have been test

    • I found the solution. Do not use the latest version of imdisk from 1.6 final instead copy imdisk directory from the 1.6(beta) into WINSETUP directory and you will be good to go.

      • Interesting…
Previous imdisk versions did not work on latest win10 builds. The one included in 1.6 worked.
Are you saying that now it’s the opposite? Did microsoft make more changes again in the very latest win10 builds?
How did this disk work on Apple pc? Which versions were used?

  5. Verry bad software now my computer hanged on dmi pool data verification totally waste of time now I hav to put for repair

    • That question really is for PC manufacturers. There are workarounds, but not native ntfs boot on uefi. I have no time to play with more workarounds, such is already provided for large files and fat32 where they are split in 4GB chunks.

  6. Nice tool, been using since v.99 I think. Anyway, I just updated my windows 10 sources to build 10586 and ran into the same issues in previous comments. Updating imdisk worked since I have many previous items and did not want to re-do the whole 128GB stick. BTW the imdisk version in winsetup program folder is the latest, however the imdisk version on my multiboot was NOT updated.

    Cheers.

    • Thanks for the feedback.
As mentioned earlier, program will NOT update imdisk if it’s present, this has to be done manually as of now, or usb disk to be wiped and redone with the newest version, which of course is overkill if there are already other sources.

BTW, glad to have Bill Gates around 😀
