Supported Sources

Here is an incomplete list of some of the supported sources tested with WinSetupFromUSB.
Since new sources are added frequently, please check again for updates.

Tests are usually performed on a NTFS formatted USB flash disk, including the Linux based ones. If there are additional steps needed to get a source going or another file system is needed, there will be a note.

Please leave a comment if you have tested another source, with a description and link to it, or if you have a request for a new one.

I can not write the image win10 nor win7. Although earlier on the same computer recorded the same images.

    • It’s Microsoft’s default files and locations, not mine.
That source uses heavily modified/customized boot structure which cannot be easily supported in multiboot, plus that structure can change at any moment wasting all eventual efforts to support it.

    • it will work, format the drive as NTFS because the file is too large for Fat32 then load it onto USB with the Linux ISO/Other option.

I have Sergi Strelec on my USB works like a charm no issues

  2. Sir
I want to rename the winsetup folder to the custom folder ….

For this I have changed the path of Windows ISO through winpeshl.ini

And the path of boot.Wim is changed through the change in the bcd file.

But the path of imdisk is not changing.

I think this is possible after the change to winpresetup.

Sir please guide me how i can do this?

  3. Is this software still being update?

If so, can MS-DOS 6.22, Windows 3.1 Windows 95 And Windows 98 Second Edition be added to the next update?

    • It is, when needed and when possible.
Have you tried adding these as Linux/Other ISO?
If that doesn’t work, I doubt these will be prioritized and included in next work.
You can also get you going by googling grub4dos + windows 3.1/95/98. Think there were some caveats but don’t recall the details.

  4. I can’t boot WinPE10_8_Sergei_Strelec_x86_x64_2019.12.28 latest version. This version up to 4GB. Please help me.

    • Just tested MX Linux 19.1 x64 and Anti-X 19.2 x64, both worked just fine, you will have to provide details what happens on your PC

    • How did you add it, using which option?
Which exactly Paragon PE ISO? From what I recall Paragon have number of products.

      Please be more specific

      • Paragon Hard Disk Manager has the option to create WindowsPE recovery media based on Windows 7/8.x/10 source
This is proper media checked by other USB tools and boot on UEFI and old systems

Problem is there I cannot boot from multiboot using 1.8 and 1.9 version of winsetupfromusb created using Windows Vista/7/8/10/server based ISO option, checked custom menu names from Vista/7/8/10/server source and default format options
Other Windows install iso boot normal

if you want a log file I can email you

        • Will test when I get a chance, you could also try adding it with Linux/Other ISO option and boot in BIOS mode

        • Just installed Paragon HD manager CE and started it in Win7 compatibility mode to get the option to save the PE as ISO, use ADK option was not used, working on up to date Windows 10.
Added it both as Windows and Linux/Other ISO, that can be done in one go by the way. Default format options.
Booted in UEFI mode with secure boot enabled and it worked just fine. In BIOS it won’t start as PE won’t even start loading, could be bootmgr/grub4dos/PC incompatibility, but starts as Linux/Other ISO. Don’t really have time to see troubleshoot further now, just tried latest grub4dos but that didn’t help.

Added another Win10 source to make sure nothing breaks, still works, but seems Paragon set boot timeout to 0 so that the boot menu won’t show and loads directly Paragon HDM, changed timeout to 5 and all good.
