Here is an incomplete list of some of the supported sources tested with WinSetupFromUSB.
Since new sources are added frequently, please check again for updates.
Tests are usually performed on a NTFS formatted USB flash disk, including the Linux based ones. If there are additional steps needed to get a source going or another file system is needed, there will be a note.
Please leave a comment if you have tested another source, with a description and link to it, or if you have a request for a new one.
Windows 2000/XP/2003 Setup option, multiple sources are supported:
- Windows XP, any architecture (32 and 64 bits), any Service Pack (SP), any version (Home, Professional etc.)
- Windows 2000, any SP, any version
- Windows 2003, any architecture, any SP, any version
Windows Vista / 7 / 8 / Server 2008/2012 based ISO option, multiple sources are supported::
- Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, any architecture, any SP, any version
- Windows 10 Technical Preview– if using it with WinSetupFromUSB version 1.4 and earlier, make sure to use the advanced option “Custom menu names for Vista/7/8/Server Source” and set folder and boot menu names.
- Windows 10 – single and dual ISOs created by Microsoft Media Creation Tool or downloaded from Microsoft. Dual ISOs made by the same tool (x32 and x64 in a single ISO) are supported since version 1.9.
- Windows Server 2008, 2012, 2016, 2019 any architecture, any SP, any version
- Windows Thin PC – Windows Thin PC 90 day evaluation
- Symantec Norton Ghost 15.01
- Windows Defender Offline , 32 and 64 bit versions, select to save as an ISO file when creating the startup media
- EaseUS Todo Backup WinPE emergency disk
- ESET SysRescue
- Avast Rescue Disc

Hola. La aplicación trabaja sobre plataforma de x86 (32Bits) de Windows XP?. Ya que XP me dice que es una aplicación no válida.
Use la última versión y me sucede eso.
Ya verifiqué, y es que al archivo de descarga que está comprimido al descomprimir no extrae el archivo “WinSetupFromUSB_1-6.exe” el de 32Bits pero si éste “WinSetupFromUSB_1-6_x64.exe” no sé porque razón pero no lo hace con ningún otro gestor de archivos.
Eso pasa con el archivo de descarga “WinSetupFromUSB-1-6-beta1.7z”
Check if the antivirus program is blocking it. If that’s the case, stop it and report false positive.
Thanx for reply but maybe you are wronge or maybe I’m wrong. AIO (All In One) is a special ISO where are all Win7 version. I have 1 with 10 Win7 version, 5 version for x86 and 5 version for x64. When I try to add this ISO, WSFU tell me that this ISO is a multiple version and that only the first 1 window will add to the PenDrive Live Setup Multiboot… so, where is the problem ? Thanx ! P.S.: Sorry for my bad english, I’m italian !
Sources with more than one boot.wim are not yet supported.
You can add such using 1.0 beta8 for example, which dumps all the contents on the USB disk as they are. Limitations are:
1) This needs to be the first source of this type, more sources of this type can be added later on with version 1.6 for example.
2) If using FAT32 for UEFI support, install.wim must be < 4 GB

Result : Windows 10 running well, Very Good, Very Nice. Give all Star (*****) for WinSetupFromUSB 1.6.
WinSetup is good for Windows 7, 8.1 and 10.

Dear, its a perfect tool…yesterday i used it. i useds many but winxp never run from usb. now i am able to use with usb thanx to all.who make it easy.
Just a question… is it possible to utilize an Win7 AIO ISO x32-x64 ISO ? What about other O.S. like HAIKU, MenuetOS, Kolibri, ReactOS, FreeDOS, and many more ? Thanx for reply !
I don’t know about other OS but you can definitely use a AIO (more than one version) disc of windows seven
I have not tested HAIKU, MenuetOS, Kolibri and ReactOS, but the chance to work just fine is very high. About the other “many more” you need to be more specific. There is a list of tested sources, it’s incomplete, meaning a lot more sources will work, just have not been tested or reported yet.
Tested with Fedora-Server-DVD-x86_64-22.iso,And when I bootup,it report:failed to load ldlinux.c32.
Which option did you use to add it?
I use Linux ISO/Other Grub4dos compatible ISO,and my USB-Disk if fomatted with NTFS.
Try FAT32 and if possible USB stick. I’ve tested this ISO and got far further, up to the installation screen where it got stuck with no errors, haven’t tried any further.
Today I tested the both Fedora-Server-DVD-x86_64-21.iso and Fedora-Server-DVD-x86_64-22.iso with FAT32 partition,and the Fedora-Server-DVD-x86_64-21.iso looks well and Fedora-Server-DVD-x86_64-22.iso still report:failed to load ldlinux.c32.
btw:I use another kingstone usb-disk to the test.
And the test on NTFS get the same result as on FAT32 partition(Fedora-Server-DVD-x86_64-21.iso well and Fedora-Server-DVD-x86_64-22.iso fail)

Fantastic program! Working well with Win7, Win81, Win10 setups. Any idea how I can get Acronis True Image 2016 WinPE Bootable Media to work? The Linux version works ok but I need the WinPE version to work on UEFI systems

No, it’s as Vista/8/10 that it’s failing. UPDATE – I got it to work by replacing the generated boot.wim with the original boot.wim extracted from the ISO’s sources folder (which was a few MB larger than the generated one). It also doesn’t seem to need the ISO file present at all. Acronis Disk Director and Universal Restore now working too with the same method. Maybe a future option to add simple “utility” ISOs like these as original-wim-only?
These WinPE based utilities varie a lot, some need external files outside boot.wim, some not, so I put the ISO as well.
Can you send me the log files when it was added using the Vista/7/8/10 option? Details are in the faq page.

Yes I’m sure it’s hard to cover all variations of ISOs. But the problem wasn’t the adding of the ISO it was the modified boot.wim. An advanced option of “use original unmodified boot.wim” maybe? 🙂

I’ve been working on this for four days. I cant’ get Windows ten to install properly. I keep getting when I boot to secure UEFI, firmaware not signed error.
When I use to RUFUS I get no error at all and it goes right to the proper screen. What’s going on? Also the program constantly freezes on start.
